This week I have been tapering off my running...as the books tell me to! So, I've only done 3 runs with 1 left to do tomorrow. I have been quite excited that even though I've tapered off my running times have increased. Tuesday I ran my best 6 mile run since I started running in January. Actually, I ran farther and faster with a time of 54:58 for 6.28 miles! Yesterday I ran my fastest 4 mile run to date at 34:04, shaving 2:07 off my previous 4 mile time!!!! Tomorrow I only have to run 2 miles, then it's one day of rest before the big day. I am getting so excited and a bit nervous. I sure hope that I don't injure myself before Sunday!! My personal goal is to complete the full half marathon in under 2 hours. I know, it's a far cry from the marathon completion times but it's a beginning. I can focus on improving my time once I cross the finish line. It is only my first race, so I'll just !!!!
I am also considering entering the 8k race at Arm Lake on September 8th. I think I"ll need to keep entering races so that I don't peter off on the training. I was also asked to coach the school's cross country team this year! This is also making me a bit nervous. Guess, I'll just focus on one issue at a time. Edmonton here I come!!!! Here is the direct link of my review of What’s My Color? [Paperback] (Grades K+):
http://mommasbacon.com/2012/08/13/product-review-whats-my-color-paperback-grades-k I continue to improve my speeds and distances for my 13.1 challenge on August 19th! This past Sunday I ran 12 miles 1:49:07! I believe that I can complete the full half marathon in under 2 hours! I would really like to improve my time but I have to keep telling myself that my first goal is to complete the marathon! Next one I guess I can improve the timing. I need to stop looking at all those seasoned runners that are doing a full marathon in just over 2 hours! Gulp!! All the books say that these next few days I should be tapering off, so that means that I am not to do my usual long run this next Sunday. I will be running only 4 miles. Next week I am to taper off even more and take at least 3 rest days. I also found out that I can't use my Ipod during the race. I am not sure how I will do without my motivating tunes!!!! All those people around me won't be a consolation either, especially when I am used to doing my running alone!! Anyways, I am definitely getting excited. See you at the Canadian Derby Edmonton Marathon on the 19th!!!!
