This year, my feet, hopefully take me to the finishing line of a full marathon. Although I need my feet, I also need to continue working on strengthening & taking care of the muscles that support my knees. My reoccurring knee problem is one of the obstacles that prevent me from running a full marathon. I have not always been very great at taking care of myself, especially when it comes to looking after my body between exercising. So it is my goal to get regular massage, visit the chiropractor when I need too, and use my foam roller more religiously!! I am determined to get this issue resolved…the sooner, the better!!
I have already signed up for a hypothermic half marathon on February 7th, although I am not sure why. There must’ve been a fit of craziness involved in that decision!! I have decided that I don’t really like training in the cold and the snow. I don’t mind running in it occasionally, but when I HAVE to, it makes it that much harder!!! I also have entered the first race (10k) of the three DOAC series, in Wainwright on April 2nd! I look forward to this one as my youngest son also runs here!! There are two more that I hope to enter throughout the year (Vermilion and Arm Lake), this year; I may try the half marathon in Vermilion instead of the 10k. The verdict is still out on that decision. Training in the hills will definitely determine this final decision. I would love to do the women’s half marathon in Niagara Falls this June but am unsure if I will be able to make it as I am a teacher and June is a very busy time for me!! I have put it on my radar, though!!
