Sleeping Beauty
Sleeping beauty stood serenely awaiting her maiden voyage
Amid cries of joy she would play her part and the ocean, her stage
Travel, she would, through all the clouds of caution
Was she meant to sail? Did God try to save her? Were hindsight’s questions.
So amongst the towering block of moving ice
She pressed forward in the crisp air towards a fool’s paradise
Silence crept like a lion while the stars twinkled bright
What could go wrong on such a majestic night?
Warning: The Ice Giants Await!
Yet she sailed on through the darkness
Playing with the waves of ice a fatal game of chess
While the people danced and sang to the heartbeats of bliss
Nothing could compare to a memorable voyage like this
A voyage on the unsinkable
Warning: We’ve cut our engines, please stay alert; to the Ice Giants we have
uttered a stalemate!
Blasting through the starry night
She rode the waves so high, it felt so right
Warning: Slow down! The Ice Giants have whispered, “Checkmate”!
Cruising ahead … ignoring the warnings
She danced into the arms of the Ice King
She screamed in pain
As onto the deck a shower of icicles did rain
WARNING: ALL WOMEN AND CHILDREN MUST EVACUATE
Now the people, like her life’s blood, would push and shove
Their only thoughts, like hers, were to stay above
The hymns were the only songs to sing now
For the unsinkable ship, along with their dreams, was about to take a bow
She broke apart and then would descend
To the applause of the eerie, dark depths of her new friend
The beauty now will sleep
Forever beneath the stage, deep.
Amid cries of joy she would play her part and the ocean, her stage
Travel, she would, through all the clouds of caution
Was she meant to sail? Did God try to save her? Were hindsight’s questions.
