Well, this past week has not been a very great one in terms of my running and preparation for my half marathon :( With just only 10 days until the big day, I sit here injured. Sunday I managed to re-injure my knee, that had been injured just 5 days prior. I don't even know how I hurt it; I just began to feel pain after 7 miles of running. Massaging it didn't help and neither did running 2 more miles. Evidently, I gave it the RICE (rest, ice, compression & elevation) treatment for several days. Saturday I only ran 2 miles AND with no pain. This led me to believe that I was okay to run my last long run before tapering....I was going for 13.1 on Sunday. I felt the best I have ever felt and so I was able to run 4 miles non-stop and feeling no pain. So exciting for me as I had never felt this way before, nor had gone 4 miles non-stop. That was the last of the "good" I would feel! 4 1/2 - 5 miles brought a simple little pain and some discomfort. I tried to ignore it, telling myself that it was just in my head. I slowly and painfully completed 8 1/2 miles - still shy of my 13.1!!! I eventually had to call my hubby to come pick me up...tears and all. I am so frustrated!!! I am praying that it will be something I can nurse and still be able to run in my race on the 11th!!!
