The Window of Your Soul
You are Mommy’s number one little boy
You are my pride and joy
You are that eternal life’s flame
Because of that my life has been blessed and it will never be the same
You were sent to me on a wing and a prayer
From beloved angels, I do declare
They wrapped you in a blanket of love
And after filling you with wisdom gave you a shove
You fell to Earth and entered my world
My cute little boy with eyes of brown and hair that was curled
After I heard your first cry
I counted your fingers and toes and gave a great sigh
You were a beautiful creation, of that I am certain
But it was your eyes that drew me behind your facial curtain
They drew me in, they drew me deep
They had a sparkle that I prayed you’d always keep
They did twinkle and, oh, did they shine
From inside I could see an everlasting sunshine
These brown beauties were the window to your soul
Through them your feelings had found their porthole
What your face would try to mask
Your windows would let flow like wine from a flask
When happiness wasn’t the day’s recipe
Sadness swept in on a wave from your emotional sea
It was times like these I longed to shelter you, keep you near
Make all your troubles disappear
You’ve grown up before my eyes
Your life will be grand, I visualize
I wish for you to not lose that spark
For there to be light in your deepest dark
But most of all I hope the twinkle in these visions of glass
Will continue to shimmer and pass
For all to see
The beautiful son that you’ve come to be
Love, Mom
You are my pride and joy
You are that eternal life’s flame
Because of that my life has been blessed and it will never be the same
