Today I completed 11 miles (17.7k) in 1:44:58! I feel pretty good. The muscles that took the brunt last week aren't aching like they did before. I hope that's a good sign.
I only have 4 weeks until the big day! I can't wait!
Last Sunday I completed my 10 mile (16k) run in 1:37:57. I was excited to have completed that distance especially after sustaining injuries at the end of June. These injuries kept me from running for a whole week and then I had to gradually work myself back into the distance running so as not to re-injure myself. I was a bit sore but only in certain muscles.

After my holiday in the beautiful Rocky Mountains I am hopefully back on track with my full half marathon training. I realized yesterday that I only have 6 more weeks until the big event. I can't wait. I am glad to say that my holiday helped improve my injuries. I was able to do a bit of cross training through many miles of hiking, biking and walking. I also was able to get back into running...with no pain. It is an awesome feeling waking up and enjoying the fantastic mountain air. I ran frequently, although not every day and I averaged 4 miles when I did run. Not bad for the holiday mode!! Yesterday I increased my running by 2 miles and completed a 6 mile run. Tomorrow I am hoping to complete 10 miles (16k). Let's hope that I can take it easy and not injure myself like I did the last time. Relax, will be my mantra!!! |
