Today, I ran around my block (out in the country). I clocked 10K (6 miles) in 63:20 minutes. Not bad, I'd say!! I had quite a few hills to run up. Ugh! That was quite an experience but I kept up the run, for the most part. I ran 50 minutes out of the 63:20!!!! My next goal is to run the same distance faster!!!! It will have to wait as my poor legs are feeling the burn!! I have a few goals in store, some local (Red Deer, Edmonton, Calgary) but a few farther away (Disney's half marathon & Honolulu Diva Half Marathon)!!!! Why not?

I have been training & improving my running abilities for the past 10 weeks. My original goal was to complete the 5K & soon I was heading towards 10K. Currently I am running 8K (5 miles), I'm almost to the 10K (6.2 mile) point!!!! I love running & wish I had more hours in the day/week to do this. My ultimate goal is to complete a half marathon. I am hoping that I'll be able to do this by summer. Maybe I'll even enter a race in the summer!!!! I missed the chance to compete in the Red Deer one on May 20th, their 10K is already full!!! I'll keep my eye open & maybe try out for one in Edmonton or Calgary ... heck one in the mountains might be pretty cool to do!!!
Well, completed & revised my press release kit. Now I need to work on my final book promotion module. I'm hoping to get that completed this week ... before I head back into the classroom Monday.
I also should be working on Chapter 12 of The Legend of the Stone & the Embryo but ideas for another book keep flooding my thoughts. I would love to tie into those thoughts but feel that I should try to keep the momentum going for chapter 12. My goal is to complete this novel by year's end so I need to place the other ideas up on a shelf to dust them off when this book is completed. I have begun working on chapter 12 of my novel,The Legend of the Stone & the Embryo". Hopefully, this one won't take as long to write as the last one. That's what happens to writers when life gets in the way!!
I'm looking for reviews on my children's book, "What's My Color?" If anyone has recently read this book, I'd appreciate the review!!! You can leave reviews on any of the following websites: friesen press, amazon, chapters, barnes & noble & even in the comments on my contact page would be acceptable. Thank you, in advance, to anyone who helps in the process.
Finally completed chapter 11 of "The Legend of the Stone and the Embryo". I think, this time I'll include an excerpt from the chapter. If you like what you see, reply & I'll add some more from my previous chapters.
Excerpt from Chapter 11 - The Legend of the Stone & the Embryo The lonesome howl continued. Several hours passed and the cold fingers of the night crept into their camp, covering the travelers in a damp coat. It was apparent to Reollyn that Uqbah had no intentions of repeating his dream travel with the fire dragon, she soon nodded off after Cunos took over the second watch. ********** Cunos kept a close watch on the periphery of the shadows but his eyes and thoughts frequently wandered over to the stranger. Who is this strange man? Why is he in the Sidhe Doire? The stranger continued to mumble and thrash around under the blanket. Every once in a while he would shout out “Ommi! I’m sorry! Please forgive me.” His breathing became rapid like he was running. Running away from what, thought Cunos. And still, the howling continued. “Damn wolf! What in Seraphyllias is he hanging around for?” After each howl the stranger’s breathing slowed and he stopped his thrashing. “Hmmmm! Very peculiar!” Cunos whispered moving closer to inspect the stranger. Rivulets of sweat trickled down into the wrinkles that creased his bronzed forehead. Black curls swept back from his face. Every now and then the stranger’s eyelids would open, revealing dark brown, almost black eyes. His head moved back and forth, as if he was searching for something or someone. His one hand continued to clutch the sword against his bare bronzed muscular chest. The other arm occasionally flayed out, with his other, invisible sword, attacking at unseen foe. “Run! Waa’il, my brother, run!” He cried. Cunos glanced out at the trees. “Where did you come from?” He questioned the stranger clad in only white, baggy, soiled trousers; the blanket in a heap beside him. “I’ve never seen your kind before.” He pondered this for a bit and reflected on some of the stories Cleo had told him over the years. Cunos remembered one in particular that described the desert nomads. He uncovered the stranger’s feet and found sandals strapped to the soles. “Just as I suspected!” He stated. “He’s definitely far from home.” Cunos wrinkled his brow, taking a deep breath. After another hour the stranger began another bout of thrashing. “Not that way!” He sparred at the enemy in the air, “Oh no! It’s too late!” The stranger twisted and turned. To Cunos it looked like he was frantically searching. “What have I done?” The stranger’s breathing became erratic. Cunos stood helpless as he watched the stranger continue to panic and thrash about. Time seemed to be suspended. Eventually, Cunos began to get worried. The stranger’s breathing labored. Spent. A forlorn howl pierced the damp air. The stranger’s thrashing stopped. Another howl lingered, as if on wings, and floated around the camp. The stranger’s breathing slowed. “All dead!” He murmured. These episodes of panic and rest continued throughout Cunos’ watch. A final woeful howl, this time closer, breached the silence. Reollyn woke with a start, “What was that?” She asked Cunos. She scanned the stranger’s body and noted his relaxed breathing. “At least someone besides Uqbah is getting a restful sleep.” “I wouldn’t say that, Sis! He’s been tossing and turning like he’s running from something, all night!” Cunos shook his head. “I think it maybe you shouldn’t try too hard to cure him. He might be more dangerous with that sword when he wakes up than he is with it now. I don’t have a good feeling about this, Re. I think he’s killed someone for that sword. He might be better off dead than alive to us. And that howl you heard? Well, I think the wolf is with him. He seems to relax every time it howls.” Reollyn frowned, not sure what to make of Cunos’ allegations. She spotted the cloth on the ground. She felt the stranger’s head. “I think his fever is beginning to break.” She dipped the cloth into the cool water and gently placed it back on his head. “I won’t be able to sleep anymore, so, I’ll take over the rest of your watch now, Cunos. Go lie down and try to get some rest. Morning will be here soon.” After a bit of deliberation Cunos strolled to his sleeping mat, “In the morning I think it best that we leave this stranger, the wolf and any of his problems behind us.” He laid down and drifted instantly to sleep. Well, just completed my first press release letter. Not the easiest thing to do. This self promotion is very time consuming, one certainly can see the advantage in having professionals do it for you. I'm just waiting for a critique on it and then I'll, hopefully, begin sending them out.
